Betzbulls Stud Service

We at Betzbulls are proud of the health and quality of our dogs. We are also willing to provide stud service to our males for approved bitches. What makes an approved bitch? An approved bitch is one that conforms to the Bulldog Breed Standard with positive breed attributes. It is a bitch that we also feel would be complimented by a breeding to one of our males. When we evaluate what we feel would be complimentary we base it on the breed standard and not our personal preferences or dislikes. If you are requesting a breeding to us please provide quality stacked pictures of your bitch. A stacked picture is a standing view. Please provide both side and front views. If you are local to us we may ask to evaluate your bitch in person.

Pedigree is also very important in evaluating a possible breeding. You will need to provide us with the pedigree of your bitch. We need to be able to determine if it would be a line breeding or a total outcross. If it is a line breeding we need the pedigree to be able to determine the inbreeding coefficient. A line breeding is used to be able to type-set certain qualities and traits in a bloodline. Basically to lock it into the DNA more solidly. Too high of an inbreeding coefficient (too close of a line breeding) and you will see a great variety of genetic problems impacting health. An outcross is breeding two completely unrelated animals. Using an outcross in line bred dogs helps cleanse the bloodline and prevents inbreeding coefficients from rising too high in the bloodline. However, if you have a whole string of outcross breedings one after the other it is almost impossible to breed to improve any particular traits. The results of multiple outcross breedings can be anyone’s guess. If you do not know what the inbreeding coefficient might be from a breeding to one of our dogs that is okay. We can calculate that ourselves.

When you are filling out our stud dog application please state specifically what physical and temperament traits you are hoping to gain from breeding to one of our dogs. Just saying that you love your bitch and think it would be fun to have puppies from her does not qualify as a reason for breeding your bitch. Are you looking to improve topline, balance, more leg, less leg, better angulation, tail set, bone density, respiration, ear set, head and jaw structure? Are you looking to improve upon temperament? What is the temperament of your bitch? Mellow? Aggressive? Friendly but a little wild? What is the temperament of the dam and sire behind your bitch?

If you have never bred a Bulldog before, please tell us all of the research you have done to learn the proper way to do it. If you have experience, please tell us that too.

Below is the link to our stud service application. Please fill it out and email it to us at betzbulldogs@msn.com along with pictures of your bitch and pedigree. Breedings to unregistered or Limited Registered bitches will be denied.
